Oldest in Use Trail Maps

What ski areas have trail maps that have been in use for a long time?

One that comes into my mind is Woodbury which has been using the Sam emap since at least 1995.

Woodbury has a new map not sure why on the website they are using their very confusing old one but at the area and in the brochures they have been using a new one for about two or so years now. Yagoo valley and powder ridge have been using the same Map for quite some time same with Otis ridge as not much has changed at those areas even tho powder ridge has closed and really opened they still use the older map. The winner for oldest trail map in new England would have to be Greylock Glenn the map they use is very old

Not in use any more, but Squaw Valley, CA used essentially the same map from about 1970 to 2007. Many changes of layout, of course, and the base map seems to have been edited, but note that the shadows below Squaw Peak are exactly the same. That is not the correct map for 1974 . It shows Granite Chief in place as a Yan Triple and that lift was installed in 1989.

Elk has been using the same map since 1985. Albeit with modifications for new trails and lift in 1993.Greek Peak has been using the same map since 1994 or before. But then nothing much happened there since then.

I think the one for Quechee is fairly old.

I was going to mention the Greek Peak map. Changes have added proposed trails, edits with mogul shadowing, addition of a new glade, and deletion of those proposed trails.

Are we only talking about currently-used maps?

For major areas in the northeast, I would think MRG would be the oldest.

For smaller areas, especially feeder areas, I am sure there are at least a dozen that are 20th century.

mapnut- Thanks for the link. Records from skilifts.org show it being installed in ’89, but during the ’80’s Squaw had their own Installation Crew, storage yard for removed lifts in Verdi, NV near Reno and a working relationship with a Ropeway Engineer. They would remove a fixed grip lift, install a HSQ and move the fixed grip to another part of the mountain…for a year or two or three. Then they may remove it and move it somewhere else or send it to the Boneyard for future consideration! They were often called “Throw Up Lifts” by many in the Industry.

Pico has been running essentially the same map since 1997, except for a few that show the (oh so silly) Interconnect…

Still has life to it (it is a Niehues).

I think if you hit the 30 year mark, you should be looking for a refurb.

Killington as well. What’s surprised me is Killington adjusted all the colors. Neihues has said he never gives permission to edit is work in that manner.
