Question for Waterville Valley fans

Family member headed that way for a wedding. Knowing that I've skied there, they mentioned that hotel options are Snowy Owl Inn or Silver Fox Inn, and asked me if any preference or recommendation. I said I've never been to them, not sure where they are, but...I got friends on Snowjournal! Anybody have any insights? I believe the wedding is taking place on the mountain somewhere

I've stayed at the Snowy Owl. It's definitely dated, but is clean. They often put youth groups there. Silver Fox is newer/nicer. There are a ton of condos for rent both through the mountain and privately if you have a group/want to cook on your own.

There are rooms available around the perimeter of the town square if you want to be a little closer the bars/restaurants. The other hotels are very walkable, 5+ mins or so.

Best dining is the Coyote Grill, but La Hacienda is okay too.

And https://www.chesleyspizza.com/ is the best gas station Pizza in NH.
I know, such an endorsement. Grab a slice and decide for yourself.

We stayed in one of the larger 3 bedroom town square units that Tedede mentioned above this past February and we really enjoyed our stay. A little bit dated and there was no TV in the master bedroom but that could have just been our particular unit. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, etc.

I haven't stayed at Silver Fox or Snowy Owl but we used to stay at the Black Bear Lodge a lot growing up and we always really liked it. It has a great indoor/outdoor combo pool that we loved in the winter.

If it were me I'd find out where the wedding party is staying assuming it is one of the two options as that is likely to be where any after-party would be....if that is there sort of thing. If they are looking for a quieter evening maybe choose the one they are NOT staying at.

BTW, DO NOT SPEED in Waterville Valley. They enforce limits very efficiently and limits are low.

Agreed- the road from the interstate up to WV is ALWAYS monitored by police. One of the more, shall we say, 'diligent' speed traps in NE...I thought we had thread on topic this a while back.

+2 On my visit last year they had a pullover going & coming from the resort. One fairly close to the highway and one almost at the resort entrance. And it was raining hard in the AM.

Thanks tedede, skelley for the insights, I passed them along....I'm under the impression that it's going to be a mountain top ceremony, which looks to be beautiful, albeit not quite at the mountain top LOL

yes lotsoskiing we did have a thread (or a gentle hijack) that made it very clear that speeding is a no-no from interstate to village, seems to me it goes way back to the SJ 1.0 days. Made an impression on me too

skied there a couple times, but have never been to the village proper, so I appreciate the help!
