Best Main Lodge Food

Who has the Best main lodge food? This does NOT include “restaurants” in the resort.

I remember having the BEST burger at Otis Ridge with my brother Chris but that was years ago. Mostly lodge food is sorta “meh”. Change my mind.

Big Squaw for sure. Reasonably priced, and the cooks there always have a variety of specials. They offer more than your average cafeteria food, and it's always tasty, with many local products too.

In terms of value, Spruce takes the cake. The food is good, and extremely affordable. Grilled cheese sandwiches are $1, and I don't think there's anything over $5 on the menu.

Was going to say the burger at Northeast Slopes as well. $6, I think it was VT grass fed.

The Chef at McCauley mountain (http://www.seventhlakehouse.com/the-grill-room-at-mccauley-mt..html) in old forge actually owns the 7th Lake House restaurant (http://www.seventhlakehouse.com/) So the lodge food is pretty good.

In the former Indianhead main lodge at the
top of the upside down hill you buy/ bought your lift ticket , rentals, bar/ sit down “restaurant “ with table service sitting on a Riblet double chair. One of the best steak sandwiches I can ever remember eating with my ski boots on. $13 w salad. ( I’m sure with the new owners from Lutsen/ Granite will up the menu and prices next year at newly named

Also at Whitecap Wisconsin Jaytrem and I both enjoyed something I’ve never had before, a prime rib taco salad also for $13 in the main lodge

Look at the OP, it specifically says not restaurant food at the resort. It's just referring to the standard lodge cafeteria, if I understand it correctly.

Cochran's, no question; giant burrito and huge piece of sheet cake served to me by an Olympic Gold Medalist. Cost was rolled into the ticket price.

Breakfast at MRG is great. I enjoy taking a few runs and then getting "breakfast for lunch" just before they shut down to prep for lunch (which is good, but not exceptional).

Resorts and ski areas have a huge opportunity to up their food game. People are usually willing to pay more for a superior product.

The problem is with paying a premium for merely average, or even sub-par, food. It wouldn't take much for most areas to make the value proposition a little better.

Hard thinking of many areas that even offer "better than average" fare, let alone anything top notch.

I'm going to try my best to get to Northeast Slopes this coming season, will try a burger for sure while I am there.

I will say that the Asian Noodle bowls in the main base lodge at Stratton are very tasty and my go to whenever I am there

Doesn’t say strictly cafeteria and/ or self serve but I’ll let you win Sam. After digging it was the Sky bar and grille right next to the door to the top of the chair lift at what they call the Summit center. Yes it does show a cafeteria in the same building.
What they call the main lodge is where the lodging is which has the Elkhorn restaurant and Dudley’s .

So I’m sorry if it was a restaurant and didn’t meet abubobs “criteria “ but it was darn good steak sandwich, in the same building where I bought my lift ticket and was right next to the top of the lift.

The first sentence literally says no restaurants which would kinda exclude everything but walk up / cafeteria service?

The breakfast sandwiches back in the 90s at the Middlebury Snowbowl were always amazing to have before a race. I wonder if they're still the same?

Nope, sadly. Food service run by Wayberry Inn, so not as good and 3x the price. The Bowl Burger was top notch back in the day, though I will say the Dr. Feelgood there now is pretty yummy.

Fresh donuts at Dartmouth Skiway before the new lodge was built were the bomb...and good to cure a hangover.
