Gore Mountain updated UMP Maps

Looks like gore mountain has quite the lineup of improvements including a Lodge on Bear mountain. Not to mention the new 18000 sq ft lodge at the ski bowl that's not even listed here.

The screwiest trail map just got screwier, but I like the additions/changes. Adding trails to BR and Topridge, as well as the Snowbowl changes will be great and attract so many people that Hickory may actually survive if they open again, due to people escaping the hoardes.

Yeah, their maps are tough to read. A lot jammed in there.

Have been intrigued with Gore since competing there at the Junior Nationals in the early 90s.

It is good to see the improvements happening there. It would seem they will need a substantial pumping upgrade to be able to cover all this terrain.

And it will be interesting how many of the pods operate on non-holiday, non-weekend periods. I have heard (though not seen myself) that BR and Snowbowl are often closed midweek.

Skied there in the old red gondola days, was there for JOs on Topridge (SL), but last skied there in 2002 I think. Rode the gondy in summer with little kiddos and hiked around. Great place overall but have heard it's crazy crowded on holidays and Saturdays (like nearly every resort...). This might spread people out more

Most of those trails have been on the planning board for years and most of them will still be on the planning board for years. This year I think there is one new trail on Burnt Ridge and one at the Snow Bowl IIRC. The first new trails in years.
Gore never gets crowded the way other areas around the same size do. At most you'll wait in a short line at the main base on the busiest days.

The parking lots get overflowing crowded and the base lodges can be jammed but agree with Trackbiker the liftlines tend to be short. Have waited 20 mins for gondy but otherwise no, and this place is so sprawling that people get spread out all over. Great ski area, doesn't need any of this in the near term, and I doubt any of these measures will bring in more business.

I think if the Snow Bowl can be expanded to be a 7 day operation with more terrain and that new lift that will take a lot of pressure off the main base.

Those UMP maps are loaded with fantasy trails and parking lots. The Burnt Ridge HSQ was installed in 2008 and they are finally adding a 3rd trail to get back to the base of the HSQ. Imagine installing a 6100ft long 1432 ft vertical lift to serve 2 trails. The glades are great in there, but the base of the Burnt Ridge HSQ is about 1300 feet elevation, so snow cover in the glades is a problem and keeps the glades closed well into mid Jan, if it even snows.

By the way, the parking capacity is way less than the mountain capacity. This has been a know issue for 20 plus years. They would rather people park down the side of the access road.
