Attitash Double-Doubles are no more

Earlier it was noted the West Double-Double was stricken from the lift report with a mention on the Epic Mix app and a presser that West was permanently closed due to “imminent replacement.”

Well today I can announce Attitash has…

1. Updated their trail map online removing both Double-Doubles.
2. Replaced the Double-Doubles with “Progression Quad” which is not yet installed yet!
3. Stricken East Double-Double from the lift report
4. Both remain on EpicMix app
5. Vail still counts both Double-Doubles for a total of 9 lifts, LOL.

This is an interesting development especially after Vail’s use of East as a mid-week workhorse. This allowed them to not run Flying Yankee (still doesn’t run midweek) and the Learning Center Triple (due to the mid station).

Also I never noticed on the earlier 21/22 map with both Double-Doubles on it that uppermost Thad’s was closed off. This remains as part of the “updated” 21/22 map. What is the reason for permanently closing uppermost Thad’s? Now you can only access it from the work road 20% down (off of Highway across Spillway or just above Alley Way)

I think the top part of Thads is just a trail map quirk, bet it is still a trail. Same thing is shown for Bearfoot creek not reaching the bottom of Abenaki

So why did they update the map with the double-double replaced, but not the summit triple? Guess the triple's not getting replaced as soon as advertised?

So when I go to Attitash and don't see a quad but do see a closed double double, do I complain to the GM or to Vail?

Changing the trail map is a real head-scratcher...

I think it's due to the replacement of the Summit Triple not being approved yet. They have to do some cutting in order to put in the larger lift. Whereas the footprint of the double-doubles are large enough that the new lift there will have little to no impact on the area as far as the USFS is concerned.

I do think they are jumping the gun on showing the new quad on the trailmap when it's not there yet, but the Summit Triple still shows on that map. I'm thinking they realize that they won't be able to get the Summit Triple replaced during summer 2022 due to permitting and perhaps supply chain issues. Hence why we don't see that updated on the map that's been posted.

Still weird that they show the new quad on there now as well as Thad's Choice shortened.

Would love to see some more trails from the summit... nice and steep up there... a lift line trail would be cool too even if seldom open. I will be sad to see the double doubles go, they were the second chairlift I ever rode!
