I'm back from a sailing adventure in mid-late June, where I sailed as part of the crew of S/Y Ice Bear, captained by Andy Schell and Mia Karlsson of 59-north.com. Truly an experience of a lifetime! We sailed from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to St. John's, Newfoundland via Hare Bay, NW Arm, and Francois.
Since we all love snow and ice, I thought I'd share some of the iceberg photos from the trip. These are courtesy of 59-north.com and Andy/Mia. They had a drone to send up over the icebergs. We saw them from Cape Race to St. John's, the first were rather small and far away, then we came across a dome one, and then a pinnacle one. Both had all of us awestruck and for all the crew, it was the first time we had seen any icebergs. And thankfully, it was partly sunny with good visibility which made for some awesome photos.
Let me know if you want to see any more photos of the humpback whales we encountered, the fjord at Hare Bay, remote waterfalls, etc.
