Check out this piece on Barnes Camp in Stowe, Vermont. This historic building is my closest family tie to the ski industry. My grandmother’s sister Gladys and her husband Chelsea Lyons owned it in the 1950’s and 1960’s. It is now a restored visitor’s center, and is well worth a visit. Nice JD. I know I’ve been by it a few times, without paying much attention to it. I might have even slept in their parking lot once.Weird, my Google street map view freaks out when you approach from either direction. It goes blank right in front of it.Interestingly if you are just on the north side of it and head west off the road into a parking lot towards Mansfield, all of a sudden it becomes winter. Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to go so quickly from winter to summer and back again? If you instead head across 108, you will be in “winter mode” & you can come right up to the backside of the camp where you can read the visitor center signs.
