Many areas including Killington and Stratton have preferred parking areas for years (and I suspect there are many other). I remember when I skied at 7-Springs 40 or so years ago, they had a toll booth on their access road.
Waterville Valley has a preferred parking area for their "Silver Streak Club (Geezer crowd)" on non-holiday weekdays.
Other than the 7-Springs example, it's not like any of these areas is making a charge for all parking.
Time for a list of Ski Areas with preferred, permitted or paid parking lots. What do you have? (Handicapped spots, unloading areas or specific spots for area executives don't count.)
What can you add?

Heck, even prior to the parking announcement earlier this week, Mount Snow had had a paid preferred parking lot for many years

I haven’t been in many years but I thought I remembered Stratton’s parking garage being paid parking? I could be wrong about this

Gore has one. Not sure if it is just weekends or also weekdays
Chuckstah
Sunday River has a preferred lot, but only before 10 am.

Ober Gatlinburg is all paid parking, but it's feels more amusement park than ski area.

Plattekill, lol

When I was a Mount Snow skier (ended in 2017/2018 season), I always bought the preferred parking pass and had a seasonal locker. It just makes life easier.
The pass and the locker were about the price of the season ski pass.
I've paid for valet parking at Jiminy a few times on a crowded day.

Wachusett has a season parking pass that is guaranteed until noon. It is the two rows directly behind the ski school building and it goes for $399 for the season this year. I believe it was cheaper in years past but I have never even thought about opting for it as parking is almost never an issue when I go. It seems like most of their season pass products jumped up 20%+ over last year.

I don't believe anywhere on the east coast comes close near the scale of Mount Snow, correct me if I'm wrong. Pretty sure everywhere else you can find free parking that you can walk to the slopes from and not have to take a shuttle.

Whiteface and Belleayre. Stratton parking garage is not pay to park, although that is the location of the seasonal parking passes. There are times (holidays, busy weekends) when the Stratton parking garage is closed unless you have a pass.

Ski Patrol Secret.... Patrollers will visit other areas during the season for NSP sponsored Toboggan, Ski and Medical training. They normally will have us arrive even earlier than racers so that we can be out the hill early as possible, frequently with a wink and nod to load early. Also earlier than the folks that setup the corals, ropes & signs... sooo.. without jumping any ropes (very unpatroller like) we may end up in what will be premium parking in a few hours.

Sounds like Mount Snow would still be able to ticket/tow you. If all the parking runs off an app they might just put up big signs with a warning. Then they roll through during the day with license plate scanners looking for cars that didn't pay the fee. Maybe put a warning sticker on your car the first time, then tow you after that. Might even have you arrested for "theft of services"!!!

The reality is that even the furthest of the free parking at Mount Snow, is both walkable (less than a half mile) and closer than many ski areas have some of their parking facilities if one is looking at things objectively.
Many will choose to take the free shuttle service from the outer lots.
This new parking thing sucks! And that's someone who was previously happy to be paying about $350 a year for a priority parking pass and the convenience it brought - heck it was one of the only things last year (my parking situation) that I didn't have to make a reservation for ahead of time at Mount Snow... :s

Think I only paid for parking once underground at Beaver Creek circa ‘98, maybe $10-15
NELSAP
Gore does, but it's weekend only. However, there are plenty of spots just that close. Arriving early on a weekend is always best. They do have skier shuttles from the outer lots.
Make your snow days more convenient!
Single-Day Access – $20/parking space Saturday & Sunday
no parking fee Monday-Friday
Our Premier Parking area provides access to some of the closest parking spaces to the Base Area. Please note that spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and subject to availability.
We have sold out of Premier Parking season passes. Note that these passes do not guarantee a parking space, all spaces are subject to availability. Purchase single-day access upon arrival at the entrance to the premier lot.

You could buy a lift pass at the toll booth. Two dollars was collected if you didn't buy a pass but you were given a voucher for the same amount to be redeemed for food and drink throughout the resort. The booths were unmanned sometime after Bob Nutting bought the resort. Due to the pandemic, the booths reopened this last season to distribute passes bought online.
Seven Springs now has a weekend pay parking lot next to the Blitzen Lift which serves The Spot terrain park and super half-pipe. Seasonal lockers, the skier services building and, the base lodge are close by too. On weekdays the parking is free.
I'm not sure but I think that Hidden Valley, PA also has a weekend pay lot.
