Ok, this isn't skiing related but I know some of you live up north so I'd like to get the real lowdown.....how is the color so far? This weekend the Boston TV stations were reporting peak color in the extreme northern mountains, basically at the Canadian border with 50% to 75% in the central mountains. Does that sound right?
my parents came up this past weekend and suggested that the TV stations in MA were reporting incorrectly, that leaves up here are further along than suggested. i would hazard a guess that columbus day weekend will definitely be past peak for northern NH and VT, but still looking good.

The STowe area was close to peak this past weekend.
We're only about 50% in the Champlain Valley.
Are you planning on heading up here this coming weekend? If so, make sure you secure lodging first.
Hey SJ,
I have been updating our website with foliage pictures.
We are at peak here in the notch. It a clear morning here and I will be updating the photo later today. Cannon's webpage
The colors are looking pretty nice here in southern Vermont. Up here at Stratton they are near peak and without excessive rain or wind should be at peak for this weekend I would guess. The colors are actually better towards the bottom of the mountain and in the Winhall valley where it is less windy and can therefore get colder at night.

As much as I love the foliage in the mountains I definitely avoid the Columbus Day weekend now. When I was a kid our family went up almost every year on that weekend, usually to the Mt Washington Valley, and I have vivid memories of Rt 16 into Conway being backed up to Mt Chocorua on Saturday morning and similar bumper to bumper jams coming into North Conway from the north during the weekend and I think that the Kangamangus highway is just as bad. Then when coming home, Rt 93 was a nightmare from Manchester all the way to the Mass border.

I was hiking up at Cannon this past Saturday, and I'd say that it's at about peak now. I'll try and put up a couple photos. __________
