4 more months to go!!
Frosty glass lace shimmer
Uphold most dainty elegance
Lightest soft dancing shift
Fall slowly masking earth.
First one, then many
Figurative frozen doilies
Something mom could never make
Detail unmatched in beauty.
Wet and heavy slick are some
While others dry and grainy
Winter white fluff angel soft
A dot fades fast on tongues.
Sugary precipitation
Damaged city sanders make
A mess of mud, dulling dead.
Sadness ends for snow.
Other places clean and crisp
Breezes whisk frothy dunes
Swirl around telephone poles
Mighty pine and sugar maple.
Out the window fogged with breath;
Crescent moons of marshmallow
Crevices, corners and in between
Filled with icy etching.
Against grey skies it’s best
Large flat flakes almost still
Suspended in a plume of smoke
Embers ash from wood below.
Warming smell fills nostrils
Memories of holidays past
A comfort, home at wintertime
Behold, the snow at last.
