Took these today on the way back to BTV from JFK. Unfortunately I was looking right into the sun, so the pictures didnt come out that great.
Pic #1 - Somewhere in CT. It's got to be either Mohawk or Sundown.
Pic #2 - Somewhere NE of Albany. I'm thinking Willard?
Pic #3 - Jeremy should get this one as it's practically in his back yard.
Can anyone confirm #1 & #2? Take some guesses on #3.
PS - Got to put in a plug for JetBlue Airlines. First time flying them and it definately won't be the last - great flights, planes are new and comfy, and the 36 channels of DirectTV doesn't hurt!

Wow, I really can't see much. I have also tried to take pictures when flying, but they really never come out so good. I agree, JetBlue is nice.

1 looks like Sundown more than Mohawk.
3 is West Mountain
It looks like you might be right on 2, I think it is Willard.

#1 is definately not in Connecticut!
Betsy, from your picture it appears that you where flying over the Catskills looking down at Ski Plattekill.

perhaps 1 is catamount? It's so hard to see and it appears to be only part of the ski are depicted.

#2 is definitely Willard, and #3 is West for sure. #1 does look like Catamount.
Must have flown right over my house!

Agree that #1 is most likely not Sundown. I think the route from JFK to BTV is considerably further west than that. West of the Hudson in fact.

I agree with WoodCore #1 is Plattekill. Looks a bit different due to the lack of snow. The only trails that are covered are Northface, Lower Plundge, Lower face, and patches on the upper S.

They're not flying that far west from jfk to burlington to go over plattekill.
I'm still going with Catamount.

We were definately east of the Hudson. I could see Hunter off in the distance and Gore as well. Taking off from JFK we turned around to the east and flew pretty much up over Route 7. I totally forgot about Catamount. I'm guessing thats it. Wish I could have gotten a better picture.

I also believe that photo #1 is Catamount. The direction and surrounding area seem appropriate. There is much rougher terrain and fewer farms near Plattekill. Also, the trail on top (furthest west) looks like Sidewinder and those in the foreground look like Promenade/Esplanade. My vote is for the Cat....

Actually, #2 has another area in it, though you cant see it on the resolution -
Easton Valley, lower right of Willard.

Here's a pretty good way of confirming the Catamount ID for Photo 1.

Great photo Mapnut....the line where the colors change sure looks like the NY/MA state boundary line.
