Betsy:
Keep us (flatlanders) up to date on what is happening up in the north country. I am up in the air about going to Smuggs or Stowe next weekend. I'm interested to know how the bases stood up to this warmup (and just how warm did it get up there?). Here in North Jersey we had two days of 70 (friday and today). I have read the ski reports and they don't look that bad but not great either. Did you have significant rain? Could this up slope event reopen some more terrain that was in good shape last week? Am I wasting money?
Was at Cannon yesterday and it was pretty wet. Heavy wet snow mixed with slushy ice. It was actually good that it was so warm, if it had been colder the ice would have been pretty bad. They had a lot of terrain open with good coverage though, and if they get a couple of nights for snowmaking this week they should last through another weekend ok. There were some rain showers in the afternoon but the ground was so saturated already I don't think much ran off.
I just checked Smuggs' snow report and it says that as of 2:30 pm Tuesday (today) it is snowing on the top of Sterling, and they expect snow tonight (1 to 2 inches) and tomorrow night (another 1 to 3 inches). Any update on the chance of some upslope snow this week?
