13:25 SPOILER: Canada's Genevičve Simard snags the provisional lead away from Goetschl by a mere 0.06 seconds thanks to a lovely run. Through 15 skiers, it's 1. Simard 2. Goetschl 3. Kirchgasser.

13:22 GREAT RUN: Nicole Gius steals third to make her the meat in the middle of an Austrian sandwhich.

13:21 NOT QUITE SO HOT FOR THE AMERICANS: Kristina Koznick takes provisional ninth place. Tough to keep up with that Uber-team.

13:20 THEY'RE FOUR-FOR-FOUR: Right now this Austrian Wunter-Team holds the top four positions, after Eveline Rohregger storms into fourth place.

13:18 MORE AUSTRIA: Michaela Kirchgasser just offpace, into provisional second!

13:16 Meissnitzer, not quite as good, finds herself in seventh provisionally.

13:13 WINTER WONDERLAND: The snow has started to fall out there in Austria, as Renate Goetschl takes the provisional lead in the new fastest run of the day. Great performance from her.

13:13 Croatia's Nika Fleiss just offpace, finds herself 0.19 seconds in back of Berger.

13:12 GOOD SHOW: Berger may be in first, but Styger so far has the fastest time of any skier today from either run.

13:08 PROVISIONAL FIRST: Silvia Berger, just one of many homecrowd favourites in this large Austrian team, takes the lead away from Styger.

13:06 OVERALL WORLD CUP LEADER: Michaela Dorfmeister moves in front of Kildow with a strong run of her own, provisional second.

13:05 WEAK SHOWING: Anja Blieninger can't surpass either of the first two, and finds herself in provisional third. Both Styger and Kildow had really great second runs.

13:03 NOT HER SPECIALTY: Kildow finds herself nearly a quarter of a second behind Styger's time.

13:02 FORMERLY THIRD PLACE OVERALL: Lindsey Kildow, having won a couple of speed races this year, qualified for her first time this season in a gs and is our second one up today.

13:01 Styger down in 1:04.42, to lead things off in this second run.

12:58 We're just about underway here from Austria, as after that first run, Switzerland's Nadia Styger finished 30th, and will lead things off....

10:56 STAY TUNED: And with the first 30 skiers down, we will bring you the rest of the qualifiers as they happen in this first run, so stay tune for the final first run standings as the top-30 qualify. Run two LIVE at 13:00 CET!

10:47 AFTER LOSING GROUND LAST WEEK: And slipping out of the top-three in the overall standings thanks to Anja Paerson and Janica Kostelic, Lindsey Kildow will be on the bubble to qualify for round 2 today, as she finds herself in 26th.

10:45 WITH 30 SKIERS DOWN: 1. Anja Paerson (SWE) 2. Tina Maze (SLO) 3. Kathrin Zettel (AUT)

10:44 THAT'S GOING TO COST HER: Big slip for Ana Drev of Slovenia, who was cruising down that piste before she made that tiny error. She could have been in the top-ten, but has to settle for 13th postion, an excellent run for bib. 13.

10:42 BIG CRASHOUT: For Karina Birkelund, who spins on her side as she slides down the hill.

10:39 NOT BAD FOR GIUS EITHER: Nicole Gius moves from the starting position of 26th to 16th in the provisional standings as Nadia Fanchini fails to finish.

10:38 GOOD RUN FOR MOELGG: Manuela puts herself in 11th and solid position going into the final run.

10:31 SO MANY AUSTRIANS: Michaela Kirchgasser into 14th, followed by Andrea Fischbacher who bumps her down by moving into 12th, and Eveline Rohregger who also bumps Kirchgasser taking 15th.

10:30 STILL NOT THE BEST: Austria's Alexandra Meissnitzer, who had been in second overall for much of the season, goest into 14th provisionally in front of Goetschl, and behind the United States' Kristina Koznick.

10:28 WELL OFF-PACE: Renate Goetschl not doing anything to please the home-crowd finds herself third-from last provisionally in front of American Mancuso, a teammate Dorfmeister.

10:24 CRASHOUT: The young Denise Karbon with the race's first crashout, taking a nasty little spill into the protective lining on the side of the course. At least that crash was skis first, and after 15 skiers through the first run, 1. Paerson 2. Zettel 3. Schild (just like last week's final GS in the Czech Republic).

10:22 MIXED NEWS FOR THE HOME-FANS: Michaela Dorfmeister, well off pace, into provisional 11th and she could lose her overall World Cup lead after today, on home-snow no-less. But coming through for the Austrians was Marlies Schild, who impressed last week finishing third in the GS, and wants to improve on that day. Provisional fifth for Schild.

10:21 INTO SIXTH: Solid run for Anna Ottosson who finds herself 0.48 seconds off her compatriot's pace.

10:16 WAVING THE GERMAN BANNER IN AUSTRIA: Martina Ertl goes provisional seventh 0.72 seconds off pace while Allison Forsyth goes ninth for Canada.

10:14 MORE DISAPPOINTMENT: For Tanja Poutianen who drops into seventh provisionally after another mediocre run, after Jose Maria Rienda moves in front of her for Spain.

10:12 PROVISIONAL SECOND: For Tina Maze as the Slovenian is just a mere 0.06 seconds off pace! The Slovenian of course won the first GS of the season, and currently sits at fifth in the GS standings.

10:08 ANOTHER HOMETOWN FAVOURITE: Into third for Nicole Hosp, she paced the last GS, and finds herself 0.23 back of Paerson in this one.....

10:06 PROVISIONAL FIRST: Goes Anja Paerson, who also had a brilliant pre-Christmas week with a win in the slalom at the Czech resort. Paerson a 0.19 seconds up on the Austrian's time.

10:04 WAY OFF PACE: Julia Mancuso nearly a full two seconds down for the American, a poor run for her.

10:04 Zettel finished second to Kostelic in the last World Cup giant slalom at Spindleruv Mlyn, and is looking to reverse things here today on home-snow!

10:02 Kathrin Zettel, to the great delight of this Austrian crowd, runs a nearly perfect attack on Kostelic, and moves 0.24 seconds ahead of Kostelic.

10:00 She looking to spoil things for the home-crowd, and no better way to start the return from X-Mas..... 1:06.42 in a solid run for the Croat star, who currently sits at second in the overall World Cup standings!

10:00 And they're off, as Janica Kostelic is the first to run for Croatia in this Lienz GS!

09:24 Welcome to complete LIVE coverage of the women's giant slalom from Lienz as the World Cup returns to action right here at 10:00 CET with the first run!

13:31 ANJA'S NOT ALONE: Maria Pietilae takes a solid run to move into fourth, just missing that provisional podium.

13:33 DNF: Allison Forsyth fails to finish this race, going off track after taking a difficult turn, but avoiding the crash.

13:31 ANOTHER CLOSE CALL: Ana Drev of Slovenia moves into fourth herself, as a mere 0.13 seconds separate the top four skiers. That's hot.

13:36 NOT GOOD ENOUGH: It's going to take more than that to beat Moelgg's time, as on a solid run, Tanja Poutiainen is into second place about three-tenths of a second off pace.

13:37 THEY'RE GETTING CLOSER: Martina Ertl makes it a close one, just 0.18 seconds off of the Italian's mark. Through 20 skiers now, with only the best from the first run left to ride, let's ride.
