18:17 There's a 40% chance of precipitation for in Colorado this morning (evening in Europe) as temperatures remain steady at -7, though the weather report says it feels like -14C. The wind is blasting 19km/h out of west, but the big question is going to be about that fog, which had such an impact yesterday, causing several delays as race organizers halted the race.

18:10 Miller, who won the overall World Cup contest last year, was third, while Rahlves was 11th and Maier 5th in last season's Giant Slalom point race.
2004-2005 Giant Slalom standings

18:10 Daron Rahlves, who won yesterday's downhill contest, failed to finish in the first Giant Slalom of the season a full month ago at Soelden, while Bode Miller, who was the 2-man in yesterday's Rahlves-Miller 1-2 punch, finished second to Austrian legend Hermann Maier in Soelden.

18:06 Of course in yesterday's downhill action Beaver Creek Colorado witnessed an American 1-2 triumph in a slightly shortened race (300-metres trimmed of the Birds of Prey course to be nearly exact), but the Giant Slalom prove something different.

09:00 Hello, and welcome back to Eurosport.com/uk's LIVE coverage of the 2005/06 World Cup season. Beaver Creek hosts the third event and second Giant Slalom of the season. Join us at 19:00 CET tonight for Men's Giant Slalom.

19:16 And the big early surprise is that Benni Raich will not advance to run nunmber two, as he appears to have gone Missing in Action.

19:16 And in this first run of the American winners of yesterday have already taken an early lead as Miller is in the top spot, tied with Kalle Palander with Rahlves in third.

19:18 Hermann Maier of course currently sits in fourth place, as World Cup leader Aksel Lund Svindal just jumped into fifth on his strong run.

19:22 Christoph Gruber crashes out as he joins Raich and Goergl out of the course, and I'm not sure what was more disappointing the terrrible tumble on that snowy hill, or the fact that he already has to join a pair of his compatriots.

FIS Rule; Kalle Palander started after Bode Miller, reason for the new post and listing on the result page. It takes two runs in G.S.

19:26 Dane Spencer, one of the American youngsters, takes some big risks in his run and they pay off as he moves into ninth place, which should almost certainly be good enough to qualify in the top 30.

19:27 Another American Erik Schopy, equally agressive as his compatriots, and perhaps mores so, as he rebounds from a few critical mistakes to jet into fifth

19:30 The course workers trying to clean this thing up a little bit, as the snow continues to fall at Beaver Creek. This dry snow being very dry, they're trying their hardest to smoothe out the edges.

19:35 And no word on Shieppati yet, but Niklas Rainer of Sweden just earned himself the 19th spot, and with the snow still coming down, and with 30 skiers down the hill, he should be good to move on.
