Doc, the site looks AWESOME (thanks to chris too).
Honestly guys and gals, if you want to ski less expensively this winter I suggest you give NEV a look, not only will it lessen your personal expenses but it will also support the message to the industry that there is a niche for less expensive skiing. This is an overall great idea, and I hope each and everyone of you takes full advantage of it!
Doc, please send me a PM - I'm afraid some of the information posted regarding Cranmore is not accurate. Bill Wilson is calling you to clarify what we are able to offer but it's not anytime discounts as has been stated.
No problem, though I was aware of other useage conflicts and thought Cranmore wasn't included in such issues. My misunderstanding (obviously!), though I did zip Bill an e-mail for Bill asking for his confirmation on a couple of details late Monday before I'd left to return home.
Regrets for any confusion [created] on my part!
That said, I'm also still awaiting a few such final pieces of information needed to finish up the participating mountain pages and have been politely "nudging" those folks for that last, yet vital, info..

N.E.V.Ski Association - The original virtual ski club
After getting home last week and making it to the Boston Ski Expo, Chris Bradford (SJ host/ moderator amd N.E.V.Ski ) and I finally had a chance to meet after several months of weekly back and forth e-mails and calls as N.E.V.SKi has been pulling together. ...a nice guy, if you've never had the pleasure, and also he's a very happy guy in his new role at Crotched Mountain!
At this point, the N.E.V.Ski club IS! The site is now accepting dues payment via PayPal, and has recieved it's first active memberships. Just please be sure to [postal] mail a signed copy to the P.O.B. shown.
The website, while awaiting a few future member jpg's to spruce it up, now includes the participating ski areas and discount offers (noting the exception of Cannon, MRG, and Cranmore- I've spoken, mailed and moderately nudged all respective managers, though all assured being committed at the Boston show and were just awaiting final word as to the exact discount offer from higher-ups, etc...). There may also be a last minute addition to the list, but more if and when that happens...
All mountains have 04/05 season agreements enroute via postal mail.
A number of N.E.V.Ski press releases have been issued to web and newspaper skiing, travel and sports news sources. The Boston Globe WILL be including a 150 word piece in a soon-to-be-run Sunday travel inclusion. Porter Haney (a.k.a. "Salida" has also been stealthily working away in the background, exchanging links with other skiing/winter sports sites. Joe Cutts of Ski mag. also has a release and has been made aware of efforts to date since June
By the end of the weekend, info. and/or releases, will also have been forwarded to a number of skiing organizations (Ski Vermont, etc.)
And lastly, Chris is going to post an SJ news feature announcing the formal operational status of N.E.V.Ski as an internet ski club, which we now, very gratefully, are.
Thanks to those of you who encouraged the idea, filled out and submitted the poll that helped guide the direction we went in, and especially to those who pledged to become members and are now following through via the website. THAT'S really making the effort feel really worthwhile.
The only remaining hope I have is to find a lower cost source for laminated, imprinted, thermo-card I.D. printing. We could reduce the cost of dues accordingly since lower quantity pricing is over $10 per card, which is 1/3 + of the $29.50 for annual membership. That's a lot for a piece of plastic so any other good source leads will be very appreciated!!
Aside from that, we're still ready to go with the printer we have in here Mass., so let's hook up and go skiing at some of these places! I know I'm ready.
