It's been a while since I have visited this site, maybe too long. I didn't sign up, but it looks like I will need to do that now. I always posted without my name because I like it that way. Is this the only forum you can do that in now? It seems like a lot has changed on this site. It looks completely different. There seem to be a lot of people who have disappeared. Where'd they all go?

I just read 1 Suggestion, 1 Question on the discussion board. Is there really a $20 charge to register? Maybe that is why people have left. $20 is a little steep! I'd register, but I don't have $20 now.
NO, there isn't a $20 charge ... they're kidding around. Registration is completely free and we won't even spam you! Imagine that!! Hassle free registration ... a great concept in internet excellence.

That's good to know. It doesn't explain why some of your top posters seem to be missing though.
Here's a money making idea for you, I saw it on EPIC SKI. Their lounge is a restricted area that only members who pay a fee may go to. It is lightly moderated and they can talk about anything that they want to there. Supporters also have access to premium articles on training and technique. It may work for you too.
Just curious. Why wouldn't you want to register and have a username? Being registered (with a valid e-mail address) forces you to "take ownership" of your posts. It's sort of a responsibility thing, so you can't just hit and run under one name and then come back with another. So I'm just curious what is your reason for not registering.

Some bosses don't like it when you are on a discussion board.
Some bosses don't like it when you are on a discussion board.
But your "on the board" wether you're registered or not.
If your boss is keeping track of your computer habits he knows you're here. You can't view the site without being on the site.
Doesn't he have enough to do,that he can spare time to spy on his employees ?
I also only use computers at work.We have filtering software installed.I'm a klutz as far as computers go.I'm here though.I'm even dumb enough to include my 'nickname' in my 'screenname'.Don't worry about it,summer's coming, you won't be here that often.Register.TURX.

Believe it or not, the forum is busiest during summer months.
Ahh yes,if we can't do it,we can at least talk about it.It's going to be hard to 'outdo' the number of post's in 'that' Magic thread. But I'm sure there'll be something to get us all riled up ,TURX.

Here's the thing, I can't post from home, no computer. We are allowed to look at sites from work. I just want to be anonymous. I know that you say that no spam will be sent because I give you my email address, but I don't want to take any chances. To register you have to give an email address.

You could create a Hotmail account and give bogus contact information. Then you could register with that address. Maybe something like iamsoanonymousyoudontevenknow@hotmail.com.
So go set up a "junk" email account, for free, with Hotmail.
Lie about everything.
Oh yeh,the thing about spam is...you just delete it !
It's not like the pollution from your car.Something that'll hang around for ever making us all sick ! (A bit like your posts) TURX.
Edit - **great minds think alike**

Wow, seriously man ... I have a very strict policy against SPAM. Since I am the sole owner and operator of this web site, there's an absolute 0% chance that your email address will be used for purposes other than I've directly stated. In fact, look around... NOBODY's email address is shown ANYWHERE on this site!! It's designed that way on purpose, so not even 3rd parties can harvest email addresses!!
If you still aren't comfortable with that, look around ... see any pop-ups on this site? No. See advertising in the forum pages? No. Get the point? I hope so.
... one quick note about Hotmail accounts and spam ... if you sign up with a hotmail account for the purpose of signing up on snowjournal.com, you WILL receive spam, but not from us. The spam will come from Hotmail (they're really a spam service), so please don't get it confused with snowjournal.com -- we don't spam here, nor do we allow addresses to leased, rented, sold, or otherwise harvested.
They have free internet access at my library and you almost never have to wait for a machine -- they probably have it at your library too. Some libraries even have free email accounts if you don't want to use hotmail or yahoo mail.
If you want to access the net at home it's not that expensive compared to skiing!
1 year of netzero dialup internet service = $120, and no credit card needed No computer needed - 1-877-netzero. I don't use them and I don't endorse them -- just showing a cheap way to get online from a company with lots of local dialup numbers. .
An old internet capable laptop or desktop, bought by asking around, putting up a flyer at your local library or a bulletin board at work: around $0-$50. Really.
If you're a bargain hunter you will still pay over $25 for a ski ticket.
The benefits gained are huge.

My own 2 cents:
The snowjournal.com people are running a board for their amusement, not ours (though they seem to be really genuine, nice people, they are trying to generate traffic to sell their other services to advertisers/media outlets/whatever). They can set up whatever rules they want to, as long as they're not breaking a law. An anonymous, slanderous post can help them to break the law. And I'm sure if you were in their shoes, you wouldn't be allowing anonymous posts either.

Where do you come up with this stuff ?
So,Chris, how many 'people' do you have working for you these days ? TURX.

8. Third Party Services.
Goods and services of third parties may be advertised and/or made available on or through this web site. Representations made regarding products and services provided by third parties are governed by the policies and representations made by these third parties. We shall not be liable for or responsible in any manner for any of your dealings or interaction with third parties..
There are also links to sister sites (like skimaps.com) that have adertisements and amazon.com referral links.
The traffic this forum generates should result in the increased ability to sell advertising.
These are all good things -- they are disclosed up-front and (hopefully) are helping to pay for bandwidth and management costs...
I am very thankful to snowjournal for hosting the nelsap.org message boards, don't get me wrong. I'm also very thankful for the noncommercial way in which the posts are handled and the lack of advertising on the forum pages (so far).
