That must have been a beautiful sight. I'm dying to see a picture!

But realistically, they're not going to fire up the snow guns until at least two months from now.

But it's cute how you guys are getting excited about the cold weather. [addsig]

Hey Joshua, are you kidding us with all this "I can wait" talk? You seem to be posting here every day! [addsig]

Yeah, I love web boards in general. But I still maintain that I do think it's funny to be getting all excited about cold weather in early October. We all know Killington will be open with a few trails later this month, and there are always options for Thanksgiving skiing. But just because it's cold does not mean most ski areas will get excited as us and fire up the guns this month.[addsig]

The pictures finally made it to our web site.
I have been lurking for many months and have now decided to take the heat for being part of Cannon's sales & marketing team.
I did not come up with "the Big Easy" and I assure you it has been put to rest. It was a theme and not a slogan.

Does the Big Easy refer to game 7 and the ease for the Red Sox to win?[addsig]

Welcome to the board Rob. Hope to see lots of Cannon updates from you this season.

That photo on your web site really emphasizes that hump at the top of the Peabody Express. The lense must have been in the telephoto range for that stacked effect.

So am I right that Cannon won't be firing the snow guns anytime soon?[addsig]

I think we're all waiting for long amounts of consistant, good cold temperatures before we make snow. If we got a good opportunity, we'd take advantage of it. Otherwise, we'll fire up in November when its favorable.[addsig]

JoshuaB has a point about rushing the season, although I'm one of the rushers. An area opens with minimum snow cover on one or two trails and many of us flock to that area, complain about the full-price tickets for limited terrain, and then tear up our ski bottoms on the hard pieces of New England sticking up through the snow. But many of us are all done by the middle of March (or a few weeks later) when snow conditions are usually good to excellent and the weather is mild. It's why ski areas close their lifts even when they have full or mostly full cover and the conditions are far better than they were at the start of the season. Do we quit because we are ready for something else in the Spring or are we out of money? [addsig]

Opening date is still Nov 28th [addsig]

I should clarify what I said...given the decent opportunity, pretty much all of us will make snow. It should be added that we wouldn't necessarily open in October or early November, but would gladly build up snow if no warm weather is forecasted through the planned start.[addsig]

THANK GOODNESS

welcome to the board rob! "it's a blast" always worked for me, fwiw.

how is the new quad coming along? will it be ready to turn on opening day, or will you guys open with only the peabody express? lots of people looking to explore the expansion... even if it's not expert terrain it still looked interesting.[addsig]

Thanks,

It looks like the new lift should be ready, but I doubt that it will be one of the first areas of the mountain to open.[addsig]
