From their site after the new Skyline lift info:

•T-Bar, Timberline, Double Runner, West Mountain
Several options are currently being evaluated for the next lift to follow Spillway in the replacement strategy. These options include (in no particular order) a possible t-bar to the summit to ensure access on even the windiest days, a replacement of the Timberline lift with a new extension to the Bullwinkle's area, a fixed-grip quad to replace the Double Runner Chairs, and a replacement for the West Mountain Chair. We will continue to examine each of these options, paying particular attention to the ways in which traffic patterns may change following the opening of Brackett Basin and the replacement of the Spillway chair.
•Village to Summit Signature Lift
The vision of a signature lift travelling from the base of the mountain straight to the summit is an exciting concept, and it is hoped that the improvements to Sugarloaf's existing infrastructure outlined in this plan will pave the way for the type of signature lift that Sugarloafers once enjoyed in the legendary gondola.

Wind Mitigation
Techniques such as wind fencing and new sheave train designs work to reduce the effects of winds on lifts. These techniques have already been utilized to great success on the Double Runner Chairs, SuperQuad, and #3 T-Bar, and additional wind mitigation work is planned for the Timberline and King Pine lifts.

They should instal a funitel as opposed to a gondola for the Village-to-Summit lift. Dopp says they can operate in 60 mph winds by having two haul ropes 10 feet apart. Plus they operate at a whopping 1475 fpm!

There's only one other in the US -- Squaw Valley, CA. If this isn't a signature lift, I wouldn't know what is!

I love the t-bar idea. Who was the last eastern resort to install a new one? (not moving one that was used) Dont hear about that idea much these days. You hear of old areas trying to open on a used one. Such as Snow valley or Timber Ridge dreamed about. But really, when was the last new one in the East?

1977 - JBar, J-Bar, Suicide Six, VT
1978 - ?, T-Bar, Bonds Lake Park, NY

I thought Sugarloaf was going to replace the King Pine lift with a detachable quad this summer and move that lift over to replace the double runners. What happened to that plan?? Money being put into the golf coarse and new snow guns instead.

This is actually old news. They pasted the Skyline update into the original Plan. The "signature lift" idea to replace the gondola had some legs when Boyne first acquired SL and the Town of Carrabasset Valley was even talking about helping fund it, but it never got off the ground. "It is hoped" = pipedream at this point.

My $.02, if a "signature lift" ever gets built if will go between Bucksaw and West Mtn. chairs (There's a survey line from a couple years ago.) and go from a new base area to the top via Bullwinkles. The new base area likely high-end and low-vehicle-traffic, leaving us plebes at the current base area. This would take an economic turnaround and many stars aligning.

No inside info, just looking at what there is.

The Pisgah Ski Center in Saranac Lake NY installed a new Doppelmayr t-bar last summer.

I think we could see two new t-bars in NH in the next couple years.

Interesting how there were many loaf apologists who insisted the removal of the gondola (and others like it - Sugarbush comes to mind) was an "improvement" by dispersing skiers around the mountain. On it's face of course that was ridiculous, thats like saying "no one rides that lift, it's too crowded". Now, they are back to touting it as an improvement. Which is it?
