Huh, weird.

Regardless, the cutting on Squaw is quite surprising, especially with it all grassed! Lwr. Rip Gorge is now 200ft wide, Kennebec widened significantly and a whole new trail.

That would be for race team practice, wouldn't it?

What team is close enough to use Squaw? CVA has Loaf, Gould has SR. Does look like they have been widened for racing.

I recall racing was mentioned in an older Squaw thread, something to the effect that the owner let them do whatever they wanted on the mountain.

Black Mt. of ME finally has the 2 new intermediate trails on their trail map, the ones that swing around to skier's right.

Allagash and St. John? Did they adopt names of lost trails at Squaw?

Mapnut, it looks like a lot of their names are similar to Squaw. Most, if not all are names of rivers in Maine.

As to the cutting question, I brought it up as there was a report a few months ago of a lawsuit filed against the owner of Squaw for "illegal cutting". I guess the land he owns is protected against cutting, unless its for ski area development. And all this cutting, which was the nexus of the lawsuit, occurred after the ski area closed.

I believe the runout of the new section is called Lazy River, giving the theme a Mills Brothers twist. Is there a Lazy R. in Maine? finding something related to Ogunquit, but can't find it on the map.
