I have poison ivy on my right arm and insect bites on my left. That would never happen in the winter! Got others to add?

I can't burn wood to cool my house. At least until I build some kind of wood burning electrical plant.

Sunburn. Cape traffic. Pollen.

Why is it that your car air conditioner is 10x more likely to crap out than your car heater?

First summary:

Misc. Bugs:
- Black flies
- Mosquitos
- Gnats
(plus their various potential diseases: Lyme, EEE, West Nile, etc.)

Can't use wood:
- to cool house
- as a comforting affectation (i.e. decorative fires)

Comfort from the sun:
- heat
- sunburn

Vacation Blues:
- Traffic (although traffic can be a real problem in the winter in places like Conway)

Apocryphal observations:
- of auto AC failures being greater than auto heat failures
- lack of discussion topics on the forum

Tick-picking. Chiggers.
Much greater chance of sunburn b/c the sun is higher in the sky.
High humidity, creating the dog days of August.
The Red Sox don't usually break your heart in the winter.
Lindsey Vonn won't be in the Summer Olympics.

It is easier to get warmer than it is get cooler. You can put on another layer in the winter but you can only take off just so much in the summer. Think snow!!!

Second summary:

Misc. Bugs:
- Black flies
- Mosquitos
- Gnats
- Ticks
- Chiggers
(plus their various potential diseases: Lyme, EEE, West Nile, etc.)

Can't use wood:
- to cool house
- as a comforting affectation (i.e. decorative fires)

Weather:
- heat
- sunburn
- humidity
- Snowless Noreasters
- Need for refrigerator (rather than a snow pile) to keep drinks cold

Vacation Blues:
- Traffic (although traffic can be a real problem in the winter in places like Conway)

Outdoor Maintenance:
- Cut grass
- Home repairs (but no snow shoveling or frozen pipes)

Apocryphal observations:
- of auto AC failures being greater than auto heat failures
- lack of discussion topics on the forum
- The old joke returns about the Boston Red Sox moving to the Phillipines where they will be renamed "The Manilla Folders"
- No skiing in the summer olympics

Got more?

Aside to MissDaEast: What is "Poutine"?

PS: There seem to be plenty of replies to new SJ postings. The problem seems to be a shortage of topics to comment on.

Nope! Never heard of it!
Does it have anything to do with skiing? I rarely eat at ski area cafeterias so I don't know: Is it a popular menu item at ski areas?

Yes, very popular at Jay Peak. they might call it "Montreal French Fries" or something like that.

I second the beer in the fridge, that's a big problem for me in the summer.

How about that it's just hot. In the winter you can always throw on another layer, but you can only strip off so much before you start breaking laws.
