Posted: May 30, 2012 - 4:15 PM GMT I was at the World Speed Trails in Silverton, CO in 1982. I had moved to Colorado from Squaw Valley in 1976 and was friends with Ken Voltz and Steve McKinney who were there to go fast. Steve was the 1st guy to go over 200kph (124mph) in Portillo, Chile and had his record broken in '82 at Velocity Peak by Franz Weber who went 203kph. The big debate that year was whether the skiers could wear the leg foils or not- I'm glad to see that they are still taping them on like the old days! __________ Lift Guy |

Posted: Jun 01, 2012 - 6:19 PM GMT 0 - 100 in under 5 sec . . . is motorcycle-like performance! It is pretty astounding that the athletes can endure the falls. I'm not into speed on skis. I hit about 35 and think I'm melting the snow.  Maybe another thread about how more and more skiers using their cell phones to see how fast they can go? __________ The Artful Dodger |
