All Western Canada for me, first time in many years I didn't pick up anything in the east. Would have like to pick up a small one like Tuxedo or Living Memorial Park, but it didn't work out. Anyway, managed 9 new, 1 short of my annual goal of 10.

Panorama
Fairmont Hot Springs
Kimberley
Whitewater
Salmo
Red Mountain
Pass Powderkeg
Fernie
Castle

Best day was Kimberely, fresh powder all day long.

First time at Red Mountain this year for me also... Thoroughly impressed... Planning to go back again next year.

What did you think of Panorama? We are planning two trips to BC, and are torn between Panorama, Revelstoke, or Kicking Horse.

I agree with you on Red, fun mountain, super friendly staff. Would love to get back there. Had a great vibe to it.

For our Panorama day we had about 2 feet of powder. So even if the place sucked it would have been an amazing day. That being said one thing I loved about it was there seemed to be a lot of places where you could get away from the "crowds". It was a weekday so the crowds were minimal already. I don't think they get as much snow as the other 2, so that's something to consider.

We also had a powder day at Kicking Horse, but it was a Saturday, so lots more people around. I do hear that it is becoming more and more popular each year. We did have about a 1/2 hour wait for the gondola at one point.

Haven't been to Revelstoke in 4 years. Loved it 4 years ago though. Scariest tree wells I ever seen.

The good news is you can't go wrong. Is a combination trip possible? Those are always my favorite, but I know a lot of folks hate drioving and prefer to stay in one place.

Based on your advice.... Definitely thinking a combo trip is in order. I don't mind driving. As we get older, my wife tends to complain a bit when I suggest camping in my truck, but in general we aren't a 'stay in one place' couple.

Thanks for the advice.

Awesome, glad to help. Can blame your wife for not wanting to sleep in a truck, especially in the winter.

Be sure to consider Kimberley too. Take a look at the map....

Kimberley

The whole right side had minimal skiers all day. Was easily one of my best days ever.

Quick list of discounts. form last year, might change for next.

Kicking Horse - Free with Geigerrig backpack, won't be in next year. Good chance it will be in the Entertainment book with the new ownership.

Panorama - Free with Descente Passport jacket

Kimberley - Entertainment book, buy one get one 1/2 off Mon-Thur.

Fernie - Same thing

Red - We got some kind of 4 pack the moutain was selling. Split it with some other ticket buyers.

Whitewater - Did a hotel package. Real nice hotel in Nelson, great ski town.

Castle - Free with Geigerrig, defintely in next year, but Mon-Fri.

Norquay - Free with Descent or Geigerig. I think it's in Geiggerig again, but would probably also be Mon-Fri.

If you do end up needing the Entertainment coupons please let me know when the time comes. There's a good chance I can get them for you free and email them to you (credit card benefit). Only catch is they need to be used within about 14 days of printing.

Unfortunately I didn't get anywhere new this year and actually only was able to ski one place for two days total! That would be my home mountain of Mt. Sunapee. Very disappointing for my standards, and I really hope that next year will be significantly better!

Fall Line n. Imaginary line following the most direct path down a slope that skiers continuously traverse on a run, often stopping at other invisible slope features along the way like the Tumble Lane, the Stagger Path and the Topple Zone.

Nepa_9939 - way to go! Schweitzer's my home! Glad you had a great time.

Jaytrem - you were so close to Schweitzer -- just two hours from Red! Maybe next time!

For me, new this year:

Copper Colorado for me. It was teh suck winter this year of course, so it was hardpack or bare, but just enough ungroomed crud and bump slopes and one (strangely) double black chute to be fun.

Interesting to see all the answers, and reminds me of so many places to go. Looks like Jay Trem went on a real adventure, like a Porter II. so jealous.

Six new ones for me this year:
Spring Mtn PA (en route home from taking my son to college)
Oak, NY
Attitash, NH
Black, NH
Wildcat, NH
Loon, NH

Made it to 20 ski areas total, thanks to a NH trip and a NY rendezvous with trackbiker and rickbolger. Those 20 represent a new season's record for me, despite the poor conditions and weather this past winter.

Would love to get back to Schweitzer, was there about 5 years ago. I think Idaho might be my favorite US ski state. In fact all my Montana powder days have been in Idaho.

Early planning for next year calls for either WY/South ID or MT/Sleeping Giant.

Mr.Magic, It's none of my business, but that's never stopped me. How does a guy from Rindge, N.H. and "Belltown" Conn., wind up skiing Ski Ward? Did you make a special trip to take it off the list of areas you haven't skied? This is no rap on Ward. I used to teach there, parttime, in the 1960s. But it isn't a place where people usually drive for more than an hour to ski. Just curious.

Lol yeah bill it was on my list of places to ski!! I paired it with Nabosha valley and it made for a great day both areas were one or two runs from being 100 percent open. We hit the valley first then made our way over to the ward in the afternoon. They opened the T-bar for the after school groups so we waited around and caught “first bar” I always enjoy skiing the small outta the way areas Bradford was great fun too!

Pretty good, Monte!

Hope to meet up with you next season for another powder day at Mountain Creek and maybe catch Tuxedo Ridge, which I still haven't skied.

Cheers,
Woody
