Very good day with spring conditions at this small, old, family-style ski area. The sunny day and low crowd made skiing fun using the T-Bar and the vintage double chairlift. The narrow trails like Dutchmann, Knox and Acorn were great even though there were some thin and icy spots which could be easily avoided. Slalom, the main trail, has a nice steep headwall which widens and mellows toward the bottom.

I am glad to see snow on Dutchman. A true eastern classic. Otis is small, but skis much bigger. Short runs, but very unique New England. Also good challenge. If the area has alot of snow the place ia an experts playground. Alot of good poaching and steeps. With snow, the skiing under the double, the t-bar line, the old j-bar line, and the trees on skiers right of the chair, are great. Along with the marked runs ---. A tough place to ski at night. You can see better on a closed trail in darkness than under some of the poor lighting they have.

Plus, their website celebrates their classic nature, images of the T-bar, the Doppelmayr plaque, etc.

It was great there today, too. They did run the T-bar today. They closed Dutchman around 2:30 or 3pm. We love going here on a Saturday / Sunday day or afternoon.

We used to ski at Butternut and stop at Otis for their burgers. They were the best.

Never skied there though.
