I'm depressed with winter and have yet to be on skis. Hard to justify renting a car ever since I became a snow snob

I love tree's but it looks like most gladed runs in the northeast (in bounds) are closed.... though Jay Peak says they are 100% open.

Can anyone tell me if you can actually ski in the woods right now?

Looking at the forecasts, maybe the glades at Jay Peak might be the ticket this weekend.

Anyone been up there lately?

Apparently, the Mansfield snowstake is only 10" or so below average. Northern NE has some nice tree skiing now. In fact even southern Vermont has some tree skiing. This was taken from WoodCore's AZ trip report.

Check out the trip reports on Saddleback in this forum. Their glades are fabulous and 100% open. I heard that Jay was open too, not to mention the venerable MRG.

The fact that Jay is 100% open and they're supposed to get 10+ means I might have to cancel plans with some good friends. I think they'll forgive me since they are flying to Vail on Saturday morning

Good forecast for the storm in the link below...

Thanks for the reports. I was wondering about this myself. Does anyone know how much snow is in the Pemi wilderness? It's snowing here on Cape Cod right now, but there won't be enough to ski on. I'm afraid that most of my downhill days are behind me what with the exacting toll that travel takes and my lack of accomodations in the mountains. That tree skiing shot makes me rather sad.
