According to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette an 18-year-old skier from Upton, a member of the Nipmuc Regional H.S. ski team, died Wednesday (Jan. 4) after falling about 30 feet from the chairlift.

The story said he suffered a seizure before he fell. He was pronounced dead at a hospital about a half hour later. An autopsy is scheduled, the story said.

That's bad news and it must be very tough for his family, his teammates and the school, as well as for the people at Ward Hill. I don't ever remember a fatality being reported from that area before.

(edit) I didn't see whome's post before I sent mine. Sorry.

Let me correct your post a bit, Bill. A fellow student said that he saw the deceased have a siezure and fall. It wasn't reported officially that way.

rogerjack, you're absolutely right and with my newspaper background I of all people should know the importance of proper attribution. Every reporter needs a good editor to catch things like that, and you're it today. I wonder how humble pie tastes with whipped cream?
Not a good day for me. I didn't even see whome?'s first post on the story or I would have saved myself some embarrassment.
