Recently, historicaerials.com has added a lot more older photos, from the 40's-70's, including many favorite lost areas like Mt. Tom, Brodie, Dutch Hill, Snow Valley, and more. Unfortunately, the cost is $20 for each photo to have the rights, which is a lot.
Is anybody interested in "sponsoring" a lost area that has imagery, so we can add that to the site? Your name would be listed under the photo as having contributred it to the site. Perhaps a favorite area of yours is available and you'd like to sponsor one.
Similarly, the latest version of Google Earth has an interesting feature. You can now look at the older imagery for an area on a slider. Most places go back at least 10-20 years that I've looked at so far, a few even have imagery all the way back to 1950-1960.
It may be a valuable resource for people looking for NELSAP imagery, even though in most places it doesn't go back beyond 10-20 years, you can see huge changes in that time period with trails growing in and all that sort of thing.
Hey guys, thanks for the offers - I'm waiting to get some new web design software and as soon as I do I'll take you up on your offers, which are most appreciated! Its been fun looking at some historical aerials for MA and southern NH, as some previous obscure areas appeared to have a more extensive network of trails/slopes than I thought, from Kenwood in Dracut, MA to Blanchard Hill, MA.
Maybe try State archives or state schools with a good GIS department? Historical imagery for the state of Pennsylvania is found at www.pennpilot.psu.edu
