Hello--

I'm going to have some images to share with NELSAP but can't quite find a way to post within the message as others do. I got them uploaded to the gallery but don't know the command for further action...

thanks!

BMW,

After you post your message there will be a link for adding a gallery image at the bottom of your new post. Click it to go to your galleries, and then click the 1st image. Repeat to add more images.

Hope this helps,
Woody

My 2 cents: It IS the most convoluted way of posting a picture.

My 2 questions:

How do people post those large photos in the threads (Ragged Mt. thread) ?

How do I post a link? I hit the BBcode thing, and nothing happens...

1. I don't know either and what is the max file size you can upload? I always have to compress mine with MS Picture Manager.
2. Click the URL button. BBcode isn't needed usually. My IE 8 brower works like this.
A pull down menu should appear at top of browser window " This website is using scripted windows......" Click "Temporarily allow scripts...". Erase the text string it puts in the posting window (or you can actually substitute into text strings, see below) & do the following. Click the URL button again and this time scripted windows appear where you can paste the link and then enter a title.

A New England Ski Area Map

Or take the text string (shown below without brackets & replace 1st null with the link & 2nd null with the name (or use link again for name). Leave brackets in.
URL=null & null /URL
This example shown with first and last bracket removed:
URL=http://nelsap.org/]Nelsap[/URL

replace " with [ or ]

"img"http://yourphotourl.com/yourphoto.jpg"/img"

so if done right, it should look something like this:

Thanks for your reply, Jgreco. I'm not too computer lingo savy.
So, am I correct in assuming that you completely bypass the Galleries to post those large images? By the way...that was a nice one!

Technically, yes you can bypass the galleries as long as the image is hosted somewhere online. That image is in my galleries, so I copied its location (http://snowjournal.com/images/gallery_snowjournal/451ac5f4f1898.jpg) and put it between the open and close image tags.

The above came from my flickr collection. Its just as jgreco says with the code as below without the spaces.

[ img ] http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2636/4238359894_5cc23df280.jpg [ /img ]

Flickr is gives you a link to use so you wouldn't just copy the address out of the bar at top.

It took me three tries to do this myself.

What an awesome pic! I hope you don't mind but being such a great pic I couldn't help looking at it but the purple cast was driving me crazy. I fixed it up a bit,not perfect. Being your image I have already deleted it from my SJ gallery and from my image file.

No worries photog. it's an oldie. I have since learned some of the ways of color balancing in post etc. That pic is from a fun day at Stowe. My buddy said, "I'm gonna jump into those trees." I said, "OK."

MissDaEast, to post an image you have to make sure you're using the actual location of the image... which would mean that your URL should end in .jpg, or .gif, or .png

If you're posting from the galleries, go to that page you linked to http://www.snowjournal.com/page.php?cid=galimg23463 and then click on the image and it should bring you to the image file itself http://www.snowjournal.com/images/gallery_snowjournal/455d3a036f097.jpg

From other places on the interwebs, like Flickr, you can grab the URL they tell you to share, or, you can right click (on a PC) on an image and go to "Copy Image Location". Then paste the URL it gives you. I think you can do that in Internet Explorer. Definitely FireFox and other browsers.

Otherwise, it I believe everything else is okey dokey.

Edit: Everything is NOT okey dokey. That cat is enormous. Is it part lion? How did I not pick up on that? OMG! Is that you MissDaEast and are you 1/4 scale?

Oh, and you did forget the / in the img tag at the end. [ img ] to open [ /img ] to close

The cat's too big. Try a smaller cat.

Well, thanks for the advice. If I get an image that I really want to post, I'll reread this page (which I've bookmarked). You all are very patient.

Half of the problem* is: that is not my picture...I don't know who it is, but I LOVE that cat! Glad I don't have to feed it...or pick up after it!

* the other half is lack of functioning gray matter.

The way I do it is to :

1st, host the photo on a sharing site - I use photobucket
2nd, when you post the photo, most sharing sites will give you the image code using the [IMG]photofile name [IMG] code - copy that code
3rd, hit the Code button on the BBcode selection, just above the reply text box
4th, paste the [IMG]photofile [IMG] in between the two [CODE] brackets you created when you clicked the Code button.
