I've been checking out the webcams from Windham, Mount Snow, and a few other places this past midweek and saw nearly completely empty slopes. Joshua Segals Stratton post said it was very quiet too.
For the ski areas sake, I hope it picks up this weekend!
Not quite at sunday river, 4 real trails on saturday, all flowing down into a section of lower sunday punch, less then 3 feet wide. With about 500 people skiing, I chose a walk through the mud.
I can attest. I was at Stratton on 12/8 and other than when the lifts first opened their were no lines and the trails were close to empty especially on the upper mountain.
Well I think a few places made it up this past weekend. Camelback was a busy place Saturday and Sunday (in spite of the weather). Tuesday needs to get here fast so the guns can blaze.
Smuggs, was a bit to much for me on Saturday. Skied Friday no lift lines at all cold day but some damn decent snow. Got out there a bit late on Saturday 9am, there is only one lift open threfore, that's were everyone was, the line was about a fifteen minute wait, then the lift goes down for 20 or so minutes. For some reason we wait it out 25 plus minutes, get on the lift, lift stops 3 towers from the top for 10+ minutes. Make are way to the bottom and see that the lift line grew even more! Girlfriend put here foot down, eff this! Let's go snowshoeing.
Made it on the first chair on Sunday, much better results, actually almost did 4 runs in and hour. (At Smuggs)
I gues my point was, it was far from empty on Saturday.

DON'T LET FEAR AND COMMON SENSE STAND IN YOUR WAY
We skied Sunapee on Sunday. The crowds were OK and at some points the trails were littered with fallen skiers and sitting boarders. But I would estimate that for the five "real" trails open that the crowd was meeting their expectation. The conditions were pretty good. I didn't hit a rock all day (on trail) and there were very few brown patches
What I heard from my friend who skis Mount Snow on weekends it was quiet there to. Which is usually a zoo! Sunday was busier with the youth pay your age day but he said all in all no lines to be had.
