I just got my new mountain creek trail map and low and behold they have eliminated the half pipe from north and raised the southern sojourner to a blue square.
Excess my french
But those stupid assholes spend so much money on the halfpipe and now its gone. And raising SS to a blue to try to deter people from using it is as stupid as it gets because anyone that knows that trail knows how flat it is.
The Vernon Superpipe has been a lost cause for a few years now. I hope they flattened out the area so Syonara can continue past Cab Ride to the base. The entire mountain funneling onto Cab Ride under the gondi is just the worse bottleneck I have ever seen. As far as Sojurn, I dont think it was even open one day last year. The shuttles were used so the connecting lift and trail were avoided. Years ago we used to call that lift the party chair. Last year they wanted to keep South sort of seperated. This was because the area was an entire terrain park. I dont know about the way things will be set up for this season. Maby they will use the party chair again. All I know is alot of skiing regulars disliked the set up last year. Try Hidden Valley for something different.

Question for MC regulars. Didn't they have a huge event there prior to the last Olympics and didn't it draw quite the crowd? Why would they give that up? I've always thought that Camelback should install a super pipe by the Glen lift in front of the Sun Bowl Lodge to have a competition like that and try and draw from not only the NYC area but also Philly. I can't imagine it would be bad to have that many people at the resort regardless if they were skiing/riding or not. I believe it would get TV coverage as well.

What shuttle buses??? I didn't see any last year. I saw a lot of kids walking Route 94 in the dark!!!
Open up the triple chair so there is another way up the Vernon base. The cab is the worst thing they could have put in there. It is really hard to ski a mountain that doesn't have any lifts to get you back to the top.
Word has it that the racing trail at South is NOT even being used.
A lot of people are heading to the other Vernon ski area this year.

It requires a LOT of snow. As we all know, MC is not big on actually making much snow. They pretty much wait until halfway through the season to open most of the mountain, and then blow snow once and that's it.
As for the shuttle buses, friends of mine said they saw them once out of 5 weekends. The other 4 weekends...
They managed to hitch a ride from a Vernon police officer that was heading to the other peak one weekend.
They went in and complained for 25 minutes until MC sent some employee to drive them over to the other peak.
They walked once, and got a ride from a random person once.
The sojourn re-rating to blue is probably a good sign. I hope this means they are going to open it this year.
I know a lot of people who complained about it. Personally, the mountain seems very small without Sojourn being open and allowing skiable access to all 4 "peaks", for what it is promoted as.
