The Y lift was first the F lift. They moved it over when F became the tripple. Back then Hunter used to see 45 minute lines on Z lift. They even cut 44/Westway for the lift addition. Now all those people are at Windham. If Belleayre closes as proposed, that Y lift will run every weekend.

yeah agreed run right next to the z but doesn't go all the to the top so you have to ride back down to take the z to the top to get to the main base.

Killington's Devil's Fiddle Quad. I guess POWDR realized that as well.

I think this one has been discussed on a number of threads as making much more sense when Killington was growing toward Sunrise. More likely as a useless lift is the one from the Sunrise condos to the base of Bear, but if you own one of the Sunrise Village condos, you might think differently

Agreed. In addition, D Lift is more or less a waste of rusting metal, though I suppose it served more of a purpose back when A Lift was a double.

They won't close that anytime soon, especially after the investments made into it over the last decade. This looks more like a political game to try to make the area more financially responsible (from what I've seen over the years, they tend to make snow when most private areas never would, etc.).

D does run most weekends. Also, D>F usually provides a route to the top if the Quad goes on windhold.

All of 'em.

Okay if I'm going to get on a chairlift, I'm going to say that Solstace and South American at Stratton are worthless as is the Sun lift at Bromley.

The Sun chair was busy when it used to go all the way to the top. Before it was shortend for Sun Express. It is a good alternative, on days they need it, for the lower blue square skiers. It avoids them the steeps of Upper Twister and Snow Ranger, when they want to ski all the blues on the front. As for South American, they Moved North American to this spot. Mainly to move heavy crouds of the gondi and AmEx, and get them to Ursa. I think over the years, Flatton and Bromley have made great uphill capital improvements for the better.

Pats Peak's Vortex Double Chair. Never Open, serves the same terrain as the Peak Double and Hurricane Triple, and you have to hike to get to it.

I disagree (partly because it is impossible for a Hall Double to be pointless )

The Vortex keeps racers away from the rest of the lift traffic, and - by eliminating the flat runout and running at a faster rope speed - it is the most satisfying way to ski Pats' steeper stuff.

This is a perfect of example of believing what is on the internet is true. Just because it's on the net doesn't mean it's true. Alot of folks put info. out there to drive their own agenda. The media isn't much better at times as well.At the end of the day, I feel that Belleayre will experience some type of a budget cut, but will continue to do well.It just doesn't make sense to flat out close it down when one looks at it skier visits, local impact to the economy, ect.

umm, I don't think the sunbowl chair ever went to the top. It always ended at "way home" where you could ski the sunbowl area. If you wanted to go to the top - you went over to Kidderbrook (since removed) or down Black Bear to what is now Ursa (used to be the grizzly chair).

They indeed did "turn around" north american so there was direct village access up to the mountain (for those condo owners).

Back in the day before AMEX, there were three doubles side by side - standard, betwixt, and Suntanner. Talk about one of them being pointless!

The Ego Alley chair is used at times for- 1. The real busy weekends. 2.When the Ego Alley trail is set up for racing. 3.When the sumit chair brakes down or is in a wind hold. 4.When the sumit hsq is closed due to icing. I think as Mt. Snow gets more skier visits (on weekends and holiday periods) one will see it being used more. The new ownership is really helping bring Mt. Snow back to where it should be.

It used to be 2 doubles, then in the 80's they added a third. From pictures I have seen line got crazy there.
