Facebook is actually on fire. It's gone from 100 million members to over 400 million in a year and a half. It's expanding from it's original stronghold demographic of 18-24. The fastest growing demo is now women 45+. Over 1/3 of the 400 million members are 35+.
I'm not a huge FB fan, but it is a force. If you have a message to get out, and a limited budget - it's an effective option.
Friend of mine is a divorce lawyer. He told me that the biggest cause of cheating spouses is facebook. People hooking up with old boyfriends/girlfriends from high school or college.
That's pretty funny. I use Facebook to keep in touch with people that I grew up with. However, I had a lot of trouble with my girl friend in Florida due to Facebook. We moved our long distance communication to My Space, but that relationship is now at a standstill. The internet, rather than bringing people together, splits them up more than anything else.

I signed up for Facebook just because my brother-in-law uses it to announce book signings etc., I've used it very little. But just this week I got 2 "friend" requests from high school classmates - both female. Guess I'll "friend" them, they were friends long ago and I saw them at our 35-year class reunion. I'm sure my wife won't object.
Oh wait, while I'm at it I'll do NELSAP of course. Can't do Facebook at work.

Just look what its done for The Zak Brown Band. I wasted last Winter on FB reading posts from old high school classmates complain about the snow. Never again! I see no point in being a SJ FB friend, that's why I'm on this site . . . to get away from people who dislike Winter.

Yes, but we have had a rocky road of it. Actually, if you keep things technical and informative without the emotions, it can be an asset. Otherwise, it screws serious relationships up big time.
