It just occurred to me that I don't remember ever seeing a trail map of the Carinthia ski area when it was independent of Mt. Snow. Teachski.com has an early one which covers just the double chair area: Page title: Carinthia map. But not the whole area. Carinthia isn't even listed in my 1971 Eastern ski Atlas. All the Mt. Snow maps from the time before they took over Carinthia just show empty woods in the lower left corner - refusing to acknowledge its existence!
There is a listing in my 1973 Eastern Ski Map. Sounds like still just the double chair area, which was a T-bar then. Wasn't the present quad chair area part of Carinthia?
I'm surprised that my 1969 ski atlas (source for various NELSAP and Teachski photos/maps) doesn't list Carinthia. I moved western PA to New England in 1979. Apart from a 1973 trip that would have been the first time I drove past Carinthia. I remember a mile long double chair. The quad was much later, installed by ASC. If I recall, and husband and wife ran the area.

I never skied there pre-purchase by Mount Snow, but where the Quad was, there used to be an existing (Riblet? double on the left side of the trail. It was replaced in '97 when they put Nitro Express in. The existing Heavy Metal double was there I think from the late 80's on. The little double (ski baba) at the base was also there.
