Nice, NYguy. You get the gold.
With the thaw and rain this week, and more hot weather and heavy rain predicted for Saturday, we in Central Mass. are calling snow "mostly gone," at least in the woods and fields. A picture of Brian's driveway would be kind of sad right now, I suspect. Next week is supposed to be colder. The good news is that the snowmaking ponds around here must be full so areas that want good cover for the Easter week have plenty of water to make snow.

Crashed Ice.

Years before this event you could do this at many Western New York ski areas (until grooming was the nightly standard). From top to bottom provided you picked your line properly. We used to joke that you could bring skates and still use 60% of the terrain.

Pogonips are ice crystals that form from fog, settle out and do accumulate to a dusting. I've seen it at Lyndon State while in college on a few of those insane -35F mornings.

"Death Cookies" are what is left after a big cat rides over a trail and it freezes immediately. You see it more out west when you have the wide swings day to night in temps. Early morning death cookies are no fun!!!
There are many foreign words like piste, nevada and shnee.
