Jeremy - anyone, is there a NELSAP kmz file for Google earth? Or is there a Google map mashup? Seems like a good project, I'm a web developer, any intrest?

Here's a hell of an example:

I would love to have something like this. I've been trying to find some of the nelsap'd areas myself on Google Earth, but have had mixed results (for example, couldn't for the life of me find Maple Valley - for some reason, I can't get any decent close-up resolution of Vermont, even though Mass and NH come in clear as a bell). I did manage to find Watatic and Temple easily enough (and Crotched East while I was looking for Temple) just by following the roads I knew they were on.

But it'd be a lot easier just to be able to click on the area on a map and pull up the satellite view!

So... thumbs up to the idea from me!

Most of VT is low-quality (Although Killington is high-res).

I had amost all of VT and most of southern NH Nelsap areas in a KMZ file, but then one day it crashed and I lost it all! UGH! took me quite a while to find everything too.. I haven't bothered to redo it since then though.

Jeremy,

Do you have any desire for this? You must have an Excel sheet of these areas with the address (or at least city or town)?

Hey Scott,

Its a good idea for us to do. At the moment I'm swamped, but maybe we could have everybody chip in, or have a few select people do it if we need to have passwords.

That looks great!

It reminded me of a question I had for Jeremy (or others)...Is there a map somewhere with the locations of the NELSAP areas plotted out (or flagged)? We saw something that appeared to be an old ski area just Northeast of the Killington access road, but couldn't figure out which area it could be. I consulted the NELSAP list, but thought a flagged map would have helpled.

There are a few rope tow areas near Killington, but nothing really visible. They are hard to see if at all.

A clickable map is a long term goal for us as well.

There are already a lot of lost ski areas marked in the COMMUNITY overlay... check it out. Some good notes on some areas also ...

An official NELSAP KMZ would be awesome too.

Great.. There are a few services that can take an Excel spreadsheet with info (sucha as name, address, URL etc) and create both a KMZ file and a clickable Google map (A way to seed it). I think what would be a great addition to the site is if users could add this information themselves!

Let me think about this.

Where is the community overlay? I must be blind.

This is a fantastic idea. The icing on the cake for sure.
