In summarizing this thread, it would seem that pretty much every president since Gerald Ford has skied at one time or an other, but Gerald Ford appears to be the only one for whom skiing was a passion.

Just one last comment on the 38th President being he is laid to rest basicly in my back yard of Grand Rapids, yes he probably lost re-election due to his pardon of "tricky" Dick, and he was the only President that was never voted into office, yet he was a very highly respected man,and stood firm in his decisions..As has been mentioned,he was one of the most athletic Presidents also.Wish I knew which area he took his ski lessons at here in Mi.There was a picture of him at Vail in striped ski pants in the late 70's ,he was "stylin".He was also one of the best golfing Presidents according to the golfing great Jack Nicklaus,an honorary pallbearer..As a final note,if there is any correlation between skiing and a long life(93 years)maybe Jerry set a great example for us skiers!Rest in peace,President Ford
