This don't happen on my ski trips, "To check for road closures due to military live fire exercises, please visit JBER’s i-Sportsman page. Area 426 includes Arctic Valley Road. Please keep in mind that road guards will allow traffic through periodically during live fire exercises, but please anticipate a delay on your way up the road."

Nice photos!!! Someone I know was a C-130 crew chief in the US Air Force. Prior to spending a week in Alaska, he loaded up his car with his ski equipment, drove it to the base, and loaded it on to the C-130. When he got to Alaska, he was disappointed to learn that the ski areas were closed due to intensely cold temperatures.
Alyeska although only 2k vertical is one steep sucker
I don't have time to get into all the details of trip yet but all I can say is this is one beautiful part of the good Lords creation. Even though only 10% of state is "reachable " by road it is HUGE!!
And we got it for only 2 cents an acre!
