jaytrem Hope you left some powder for me. Itasca and Giant's Ridge were real nice today, but only got about an inch. Was super sunny all day, so not complaining. Itasca was very laid back, really enjoyed it. Giant's Ridge exceeded my expectations. Skied much bigger than I expected. Good amount of tree skiing that doesn't get much traffic. So at least I got a little left over powder.
ciscokid Probably one of the top five best ski days in my life in all honesty Only because the conditions were fantastic,I was on first gondola‘,on first chair at mystery Mountain which was kind of a letdown it was kind of flat, but going down a nicely groomed trail with about 5 inches of fresh. powder it’s just something you can’t put a price on you cannot see your skis , There is hooting and hollering, something you cannot describe as you all know. It is also cool to play the mountain out as far as getting as far out starting from the end of the mountain working your way back and playing the conditions and the wind and the sunshine etc. I will tell you one thing five hours of skiing that powder really beats the crap out of a 63-year-old man from the flatlands even though it’s only at 800 some odd vertical but when you have a high speed sixpack and you’re enjoying the center pull doubles and just taking it all in you’re having a great time and the pain feels great. Tomorrow I get to experience Lutsen with Jaytrem who has been on Snowjournal as long as I have over 15 years who I first met at the hike at snowbowl New Jersey back in 07 and we also had lunch or whatever at Central New Jersey I think it was four years ago and although I have never really got down to speak with him in that timeframe I look forward to spending the next four days skiing with him.
conrad Awesome pictures and report!! 5 hours at Lutsen skiing powder? You are definitely getting yourself in shape!
ciscokid I Don’t know about that but my powder mind certainly is in shape and seeing all these old center pull doubles along with the modern gondola and six pack in the view of the little lake certainly is uplifting for sure and I did not even have to wait and stop for some young lad taking pictures joking of course Actually each and every day I am feeling better and better. I do wish I had a more modern wide ““ fat “ ski And a little shorter ski tag I I wish I won those 176 liberties when I was in New Hampshire a few years ago but I might have to buy me some shaggy’s made in Boyne city Michigan because my buddy Ted says that there are the bomb Incidentally that’s Riblet triple as you probably know Conrad he’s a very rare chair from Riblet that was formerly at Snowmass the naked lady. Another thing I’ve been running into to no surprise is smacking my helmet and GoPro on these low old joints when you get on the lift. Really quite a cool procedure
ciscokid Beautiful sun filled morning here at Lutsen with my buddy Jaytrem . Jay just got his bump skis on and he’s rocking through the woods faster than I am going down the groomers. I stayed in a hostel For the first time in my life and it was better than half the motels I stay in just a gorgeous little place called hungry hippie near grand Maraise and the Gunflint Tavern fit the bill last night very retro scenic little town about 40 minutes from the Canadian border
Treilly I Don’t know about that but my powder mind certainly is in shape and seeing all these old center pull doubles along with the modern gondola and six pack in the view of the little lake certainly is uplifting for sure and I did not even have to wait and stop for some young lad taking pictures joking of course Actually each and every day I am feeling better and better. Really quite a cool procedure Yes now that I have skied on my Shaggys, I can't see myself going back to another brand. I also like to support a small Michigan company.
ciscokid Chester Bowl, MN? https://liftblog.com/chester-chester-bowl-mn/ Good work On way to Ironwood
jaytrem Lutsen was great today!!! Some real nice tree skiing there. Plenty of powder left in the tighter trees. Seems like the people out here prefer the more open trees. Chester actually had the longest lines of my trip so far. Go figure! Minimum of 5 minutes each time. Only hung around for about an hour. I did enjoy my 3 or 4 minutes of actual ski time.
